We're delivering a full-fibre platform into Sunderland for CityFibre.
CityFibre is the UK’s largest independent Full Fibre platform, providing world-class wholesale connectivity to business and consumer service providers, local authorities and mobile operators.
Their national rollout is underway and aims to reach up to 8 million homes and businesses by 2025.
Novo's solution
Working alongside CityFibre's design planners, Novo conducted initial survey work of Sunderland to identify construction methodology and the pre-construction condition of the street. This was in order to lay the fibre cables in a safe, efficient, and non-disruptive manner.
Beyond the survey work, Novo conducted civil work in line with CityFibre's design packs. This consisted of trench digging, duct laying, cabinet construction, toby construction, aerial works, fibre installation, proving and testing.
Work was also done using Openreach's Physical Infrastructure Access to repair and enhance the Openreach network.
The outcome
The project is in its early stages, and once complete, nearly every home and business in Sunderland will gain access to next-generation broadband as part of plans to replace the UK's legacy copper network with gigabit-capable full fibre connectivity.
Novo Technologies is successfully delivering the project safely, on time and to a standard of quality in accordance with the issued designs. All the while keeping the amount of disruption to consumers and businesses to a minimum!
